HISTORY

Peggy’s Place & Plate Hire was started by two good friends: Peggy Saxon and Ann Herringer in late 1994. They worked out of Peggy’s dining room and garage and started out with place settings for 100 people: German-made Hutchenreuther crockery and WMF cutlery with Mondial glassware.

The high quality of the hiring and Peggy and Ann’s service quickly turned Peggy’s Place into a top supplier for exclusive events in Cape Town.

Peggy and Ann moved to premises in Access Park Kenilworth in 1998 to accommodate their rapidly expanding business.

In 2006 they moved to bigger premises in Prime Park, Diep River and in 2009, Peggy’s Place became part of the Downings group.

Downings Hiring and Downings Marquee are based in Somerset West and together our companies can now access a broader market across the Southern and Northern suburbs and the Stellenbosch and Paarl valley areas. We can offer clients the full hiring spectrum of hiring: from the basic ranges to the most exclusive cut crystal and silverware, for functions for ten to functions for a thousand.

Peggy and Ann also have an events planning business: Peggy & Ann: Wedding & Events Extraordinaire.

They create functions and weddings to remember. Peggy and Ann have years of experience and will offer creative advice to make the most of your vision - and budget. They are efficient, calm and focused, and most of all: they love their job!
